I am always curious about the person who puts a site together. If you are too, here is a little about myself. I don't care for my given name, you can just call me Tin. I am 63 years young and was married for 42 years to Al. We met when we were both in the Navy, stationed at Newport, RI. We have 3 children, Jeffrey, Karen and Christine, who have presented us with 10 wonderful grandchildren. And 2 of those grandchildren have given us a a total of 3 Great Granddaughters. You will meet them later.
Till then, here is a peek.
The most important thing in my life is my family. This collage is made from pictures, some that are at least 5 years old. You will have the chance to see later ones on different pages. Along with Albert and myself, for 5 years, our household included my mother Ruth. ( Mother passed away 20 June 1998 at 10:30 AM.... age 94 years 2 months 9 days) We didn't have this bird very long, but Mom really liked him and the bird liked Mom. He was one of Karen's babies. She bred and hand fed cockatiels for a short time. I found out you can't housebreak birds -- Karen got him back!!! Everyone says, "I like long walks on the beach." Well, don't know if I like long walks on the beach, I have never done it. I do like hiking in the woods, sunrises and sunsets. I was born and raised in Ames, Iowa, the home of Iowa State Univeristy. As children, we grew up with a sense of humor about the football games that ISU played. We learned to say, "Education is more important than sports!!!" We got to where I live now, after living all over the country. Albert did 20 years in the Navy and I was with him for 15 of those years. I am now living in house number 49. (we owned only 9, the rest were rentals) Resume Occasionally I would go out into the big world and try to make some extra $$ There have been temporary office jobs. I have sold everything from photographs to houses. My motto was always "Do unto others" I do not like high pressure sales and would never press that on anyone else. My favorite job was Real Estate. The worst was working for the state at Social Services. There were so many petty rules, used to disqualify people who really need the help, that I quit after 4 months. I did own my own business for a short time. (Longer than the IRS said) It was a gift shop in Rhode Island. I made most of the inventory, had some consignments and a small amount of manufactured items. I really enjoyed it, but I burned out rather quickly.

I was up at 6 AM pouring the ceramics and turning on the kiln at midnight. In between it was time for cleaning and painting what came out of the kiln in addition to running the store. I could not have done it as long as I did, without the encouragement and cooperation of Al and help from our son, Jeffrey. I had a lot of fun creating these unique pieces of art. Childhood Memories Raking leaves, picking beans (and eating them), Kittens, halloween, May baskets, tricycles, bicycles, my swing and softball. Listening to Mom play the piano, watching Daddy making wood things. The big screened in front porch. Putting coal in the furnace and cinders on the icy sidewalks. Petey, the parakeet, Tiger the cat and Candy the dog. Camp Fire Girls, Mrs Struble (3rd grade teacher) Cherry Ames books, the "fort" in the middle of the lilac bush. Playing with paper dolls under the dining room table. The endless monopoly games. The advent of television; I Love Lucy and Saturday nite wrestling. Rock and Roll, The first time I heard Elvis Presley. (What a shock) Pet Peeves Phonies, empty handicap parking spaces but even more, reserved spaces for senior officers at the Commissary, Waiting, Cold winters with no snow, Electronic menus on the telephone (these I really hate), Outrageous salaries for CEO's, Phony Politicians, Government red tape, and pettiness. I must be a pretty happy person, because I had to sit here and really think about what I don't like. Favorites Flower: daisy Color: yellow and pastel anything Car: Oldsmobile Fast food: Taco Bell. Favorite holiday: don't have one School subject: History Music: Oldies from the 20'S, 30'S, 40's, and 50"s, Marches, Montovani anything, Gospel and Country. The Statlers, Jim Reeves, George Strait and last but not least Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat. Authors: Laura Ingalls Wilder, Jane Austin and Jeffrey Archer. If you have never read Archer do so: just once and you will be hooked. I am not an avid reader so I have found the the audio books to be a godsend. When I have to make a long road trip, I always take a good book with me.
