FRIENDS

Friends are forever.
The laugh, They love, They share.
Each other's thoughts and words,
But most of all, They care.

Friends can come and go
And never be apart.
Because they keep
Each other's smile
Deep within their heart.

Friends can laugh and talk and cry
And think of lovely times gone by,
But most of all....
They love until they die.

It only takes a moment
To do a thoughtful thing.
Just think of all the happiness
Your thoughtful acts might bring

Why, it only takes a moment
To pick up the telephone
To say "Hello" to someone
Who is sitting home alone

And it only takes a moment,
When someone is feeling blue,
To send a cherry little card
Or pen a line or two.

It will only take a moment
To extend a helping hand
or give someone assurance
That you understand.

And it only takes a moment
From our busy working day
To say a prayer for someone
Be they near or far away.

"But I can't, for I am too busy....
I just haven't got the time"
How often have we said it,
Like an old familar rhyme,

Yet each moment is God's given
Everyone a treasure rare,
Not to be horded selfishly
But meant for us to share

In our little acts of kindness,
Words that cheer and comfort bring,
For it only takes a moment
To do a thoughful thing.

DISCOVERY

Today I smiled and all at once
Things didn't look so bad.
Today I shared with someone else.
A bit of hope I had.

Today I sang a little song,
And felt my heart grow light,
And walked a happy little mile,
With not a cloud in sight.

Today I worked with what I had,
Nor longed for any more,
And what had seemed like only weeds,
Were flowers at my door.

Today I loved a little more,
Complained a little less,
And in the giving of myself,
Forgot my weariness.
